4/16 by Emily Decker

My aunt lives down south in the same town that her parents (my grandparents) lived in. They spent a lot of time together and were really close. My grandfather passed away quite a few years ago from pancreatic cancer and 4/16 was the anniversary of his death. My aunt got a notification on her phone a few days before 4/16 that she had a new message in Messenger. When she opened it, it was an old message she had saved my grandfather from years ago showing up dark blue, like it was a brand new message. She opened it and read it again and didn't think much about it. The next day, the same thing happened and it kept happening up until 4/16. How can a message change to white showing it's been read, then show up again dark blue and notifying you that you have a new message when it's from years ago from someone who has passed?
