Who is in the Room? by Israt Momo

Last semester, I moved to my new apartment with two other roommates. So, we all three have separate rooms, washrooms, and closets. It was quite a big apartment; my room (which was empty for three years) was in the corner of the apartment, which I could say was a little far from the other two rooms.

So, every night I tried to sleep in that room, in the middle of the sleep, my whole body got shaken suddenly as if someone pushed me. I thought it was just tiredness messing up my brain. But this incident happened to me almost every night.

When I moved to the US, I used to put my mom on a video call while I was sleeping because I was scared to sleep alone. After this thing started happening to me, I started putting my mom on the video call again, but I didn't share the story with her or anyone.

Then, one day, my mom asked me in the morning: "Who was in your room last night?"

I was like, "What do you mean? I don't share my room with anyone."

My mom said, "Have your roommates come to your room or something?"

I was so confused because I always locked my door while sleeping. She said, "Then, who was shaking your bed?".

I got so scared, I didn't know what to say.

She said, "While you are sleeping, your bed suddenly starts shaking for a couple of seconds." She thought maybe there was an earthquake happening here or my roommates wanted to prank me. And she asked if it is possible to zoom in or zoom out on the video call because "it feels like someone did that on your screen a couple of times."

I was like, no, it's impossible to zoom in or out on the WhatsApp video call! Maybe it's a technical glitch! In my head, "I was pretty sure the bed shaking was the real glitch in my life!"

After that day, I started praying a lot. I put some religious verses on my wall to get positive energy. Besides, I covered my room's mirror so that there was no bad energy that could haunt me. I don't know if this was paranormal or not. Still, life goes on,
