Kwik-Chik By Delaney Lewis

I fish out three breasts

then four thighs,

            extra hot, extra fat,

with stainless steel tongs.

He thanks me

                    Man-to-Man

as I pass the bucket

across the counter.

I follow Him

to the door

                Come again

and lock it behind Him.

I take an inventory

of what sits in the freezer:

                24 breasts

                24 thighs

                36 glutes

I turn off the fryers,

then the burners,

and collect the leftovers

in a black trash bag.

Outside, I toss the bag

to a homeless Man waiting.

I apologize for the contents

but no one ever orders

             the hearts or the brains.

I once saw a motorcyclist crash in my yard. I watched them clean his skin off the guardrail.
